Chickpea Pasta, it's the New Thing

Banza Pasta Shells

I was looking around the pasta aisle at Target the other day, I found some pasta that is made out of chickpeas. I thought to myself, I have got to try this!

The pasta brand is called Banza. I tried the shell version of the pasta, because I have to admit that I am very partial to shells. I think it's because my mom used to always make macaroni and cheese with shells growing up.

I was sort of afraid of my husband's reaction when I told him the pasta I made with dinner was made from chickpeas. To my surprise, however, he was down to try it. And to even more of a surprise to me, he actually enjoyed the pasta.

My thoughts on this pasta are that for a gluten free option it is really good. It also has less carbs than regular pasta as well, which is always a plus.

I incorporated the Banza into a meal I was already planning. I made a meal of Banza with marinara sauce, baked chicken, and Brussels Sprouts.

If you are on the new fad diet Whole30, however, keep in mind that chickpeas are legumes, so Banza is still not on the diet.

Checkout the Banza website for their comparison of Banza versus the average pasta here. And you can even look at a nutrition label on their website here.

Have you tried a pasta substitute or a gluten free pasta you really like?

I would love to hear what your favorites are.
